Respiratory System
Special Features

-
-
-
-
Many of the epithelial tissues have cilia which are hair like structures that keep the foreign substances out of the system
Gas Exchange
-
-
-
Bronchioles end in tiny air sacs called alveoli which has a thin layer of membrane and allows for the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide
Alveoli are in the networks of capillaries which is where the deoxygenated and re oxygenated blood meets
Oxygen would diffuse through the alveoli and capillaries into the blood stream while carbon dioxide would return to the lungs and diffuse out of the alveoli and capillaries to be removed out of the body
Note here that the concentration of air through lungs is always than the concentration of CO2 through alveoli
Breathing
-
-
-
When level of CO2 rises, signals would be sent to the diaphragm (a muscle underneath the lungs ) which would cause the lungs to contract and relax

TB- Tuberculosis

Diagnosed with x-ray which appear to look like pneumonia, samples of the lungs
-
Parts
Nose, mouth, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, lungs

In Other Animal
Fish
Fish have gills which are directly in contact with the water and allows for the exchange of CO2 and oxygen
Gills have many capillaries the bring blood close to the water so that oxygen can diffuse in and carbon dioxide can diffuse out
