limitations:
--> In [1], a short (500 msec) burst of invisible motion was repeated many times to constitute a long epoch of invisible trials (block design). In most previous studies (including [8]), however, inter-ocular conflict was induced continuously over minutes by binocular rivalry, while par- ticipants tracked their conscious experience moment-by- moment. These two modes of processing, at stimulus onset versus during continuous rivalry transition, may well be governed by different rules, as suggested by recent psycho- physical data [9]. For instance, it may be that consciousness does modulate neuronal response in V1 during continuous binocular rivalry but not at the onset of rivalry induced by a short-duration stimulus.
