Where
Mount Pinatubo, Island of Luzon, Philippines, South East Asia.
One of a chain of volcanoes known as the Luzon volcanic arc; is the result of the Oceanic Philippine plate being subducted under the lighter continental Eurasian plate.
-
How: the volcano was a bit offset from the boundary while the Oceanic plate was subducted it was melted and forced away as molten magma was exerted on it by high pressures. So, the magma pushed up through the small cracks and exploded as a volcano.
