lived from 280 to 233 B.C.E

lived to see end of warring period
Zhou Dynasty
was concerned with peace
really interested with harsh rules then confucianism

idea of people being naturally selfish
strict rules made people not got against rulers

If the example is being respectful they do it

if people want someone to do something they won't do it
the person needs to set an example or people won't copy their example
