Book challenge #4
Plot
Part 3, The Mayors
There is this new group called the "actionists." They are for trying to stop the other nations (planets) from taking over them. They are starting to gain power over the Encyclopidists. Wienis sends a powerful ship to attack Terminus, and capture Hardin. There is an ultrawave relay in the ship though, so the priests open it and the ship loses all of its power. Wienis commits suicide on discovering that Hardin can't get killed.
Part 4, The Traders
The foundation is sending out lots of traders including master trader Eskel Gorov. Unfortunately the people on the other planets are far from friendly, and they have Eskel sentenced to death. A trader named Ponyets is now trying to bribe the Elders of Askone with gold. He made a iron to gold machine and succsesfully bribed the elders.
Part 2, The Encyclopidists
Salvor Hardin is the mayor, but the real "ruler" are the directors of the Encyclopedia, the collection where all general knowledge will be kept. They also call themselves the foundation. The galactic empire has to move closer to the center of the galaxy to protect Trantor, so Galactic empire control is starting to fall around Terminus, and so the planet Anacreaon is sending an envoy to say that Anacreaon forces should "protect" Terminus even though they really just mean a military takeover. Fortunately Terminus has nuclear power (deadly weapon), and Anacraeon does not. Now people are debating about moving
Part 5, the merchant princes
In this part, three foundation ships have disappeared near the government of korrel. So the foundation has sent master trader Mallow to deal with them, and they declare the "Seldon crisis" has begun
Part 1, The Psychohistorians
Hari Seldon is living on Trantor, the capital of the galactic empire. He has created the science of psychohistory. Psychohistory can predict the future of large (planetary) groups of people, but The entire group has to be unaware of the predictions, or else they could just change the future by doing something else. Hari seldon is put on trial because he is predicting the downfall of Trantor. So a scientific refuge will be put on Terminus, a planet at the edge of the galaxy To keep the knowledge of the galaxy safe. Hari Seldon will die before the next part begins.
Connections
Text to text
I can connect this book to the Prydain chronicles because in both of the books they try to prevent the bad thing from happening instead of elimenating the bad thing while it exists
Text to world
The author was a real life scientist. He actually envisioned how these sci-fi things would work. So these things have a higher likelihood of happening in the far future.
Text to self
I can connect the encyclopedists to myself because they are ambitious in their goal to shorten 30,000 years of anarchy into 1,000 years. I am ambitious in trying to get to level 4 Rosetta stone in mandarin Chinese.

Theme
I think the theme is good V evil because the foundation is trying to fight these Dark ages that will come after the galactic empire's collapse
Mood
Desperate, because they know they HAVE to do this task but other bad things are going on around them, so they also HAVE to deal with that.
