Cloning...The Ethical Debate
Positive
Implanting clones of spider genes into goats so that there is silk in the milk - Economical benefits as silk prices go down
Cloning of heathy plants (asexually) will create large crops of good food
Bananas basically
Genetically modified animals that produce medicine can be cloned; saving human lives
.
you could be in two places at once
Im fairly sure that is not how it works
if you always wanted a twin but you dot have a twin and you've never had a twin you could make yourself a twin
But the twin would be way younger than you
Using stem cells from babies to repair major injuries of any cell type - Significantly decreases the recovery time for things
use the clone's organs
CLONING YOUR OWN HAREM (It is legit)
Identical genetic copies already exist within some plant species
Negatives
Using current cloning technology, clones have a very short lifespan and are susceptible to many age related illnesses in early life.
Genetic variation
Mutations and would be lots of genetic screw ups
What if the clones were evil?
You can't get rid of a consciousness. A clone is arguably no less real than the original as it forms its on personality through experiences. Individuality could lose importance in a socity wherein cloning is readily available.
The clone would generally be treated as an inferior to the original
if someone dies you could clone them and just pretend they never died
Cause emotional conflict to those associated with clones
If a cloned human/animal has is sentient is it murder to harvest them for organs/food etc.
CC the cloned kitted died as a kitten because the DNA that was used was aged and CC died of diseases that only old cats can get - Its so sad
A population of clones would be susceptible to simple diseases that would wipe them all out
If a perfect person is cloned then everyone would have a different definition of perfection
When the day comes when we no longer reproduce, but rather rely completely on cloning, the human species will likely stop genetically evolving.
1 disease = RIP Humanity
Maybe it's for the greater good
cy@ Humanity we always hated u :)
I'd imagine people won't completely give up intercourse, and would people be so vain enough to think that they are completely perfect and their offspring should be identical to them? Some might be, but most won't.
KKK may get revived if cloning becomes possible :((((
Criminal exploitation of the technology - sex workers - slavery
Money spent to research the technology
Money is spent on more trivial things such as a wall bordering Mexico and the USA. Surely a few $$ could be spared
more food
Chat
you could clone a hitler and kill him twice
clone dogs
clone cats
clone food!
If you were an amputee you could get a new limb
