Set up a comfortable context, avoid overlapping speech, and don't avoid common terms.
Understanding- Remembering- Evaluating- Responding. Take all into account when becoming a great listener.

Polite listening- avoid interrupting the speaker. Give supportive listening cues. Show empathy to the speaker. Maintain eye contact. Give positive feedback.
Critical Listening- Keep an open mind. Avoid filtering out. Recognize biases. Combat the tendency to sharpen. Focus on verbal and non verbal messages. Watch out for language fallacies.
