ADF - Lessons Learned
Could have been done better
Project leadership changes gave mixed messages externally
A lot of internal politics
Team members coming and going
No full time change manager to start
Lack of clear scope, kept changing what was being delivered
Accountability of initial ownership and sponsorship was never clear
Silo between business and tech, made it hard to do a holistic change approach
Distinct lack of roles and responsibilities on the project team, there was no leadership around jobs to do
No defined vision for what the change actually is
Relied on the change team to lead the change, leadership didn't come from other places, project management was also done by the change team
weak project management principles
Daily stand ups about what the change and comms teams are doing as opposed to driving a project schedule
Lack of buy in from the BAU team, they are stepping back from the change, change of leadership impacted this
Blurred lines between change management and implementation
Ryans team involved in project, but unsure of future role in the ADF and who it will be transitioned to
Awkward having sponsor change mid-way, Rob Marchiori never seemed to want to be the sponsor
Framework was designed ad-hoc by non-project practitioners, it was not aligned to industry standards and had no professional framework designers working on developing it
Things that went well
Awareness of the change was built via stakeholder engagement
Videos were a great promo tool
Visuals of ADF looked good
Town halls were effective
BA Presentations went well
Materials pitched at the right level
Maria came in and was a strong presence and provided energy bringing the team together
Burning platform was built
Friday afternoons occured
Things we would do different
ADF did not link into other delivery transformation pieces of work. They all started individually and they were lumped together randomly without strategy
Not progress without adequate resources
Senior leaders "talked" about importance of the change but did not give it budget to be effective
Full time learning manager + technical writer
Start with a strategic intent as opposed to clumping multiple projects into one program
Should have been delivery transformation change champs and pilot projects, not just ADF ones
Sequencing of projects, why did PPM go live with SDLC/PLC then have to be changed for ADF
