Annotated Mind Map Final
Communication with students
Communicate early and often: I think this is key for success in the online environment. Although I found all the emails to set up profiles etc a bit annoying in the beginning. I soon realized that it was important. It is very important to create that sense online community and sharing
Stay Focused: Staying focused is a challenge for everybody in an online learning environment. I feel this is relative to both the lecturer and students. Online learning requires the facilitators to be more prepared for class delivery online than in a face to face environment.
Plan for success: This is extremely important as it will build confidence in students and lecturers from the very beginning
Authentic Learning: making learning relevant to the learners is very important. I have found this is very important with face to face education sessions but also with online course content.
Some of the research suggest that students sometimes do not feel comfortable sharing online and particular they do not like engaging in group tasks.ref. Research also suggests that some of the barriers to students participating online is that they do not feel confident using the various technologies. This was how I felt initially on TELTA but I think because it was new and out of my comfort zone a bit. This soon changed and I felt comfortable in the online environment
Wikis: I found the wikis very useful for the group projects. I feel if I was delivering a project based learning module I will definitely use this resource. I feel I need to research how to use them more effectively so that participants would maximize the benefits from using them.

Open Education Resources OER's
I was unaware of the amount of Open Education Resources available. On researching I found lots of resources online that already exist. I have used some previously but I can reference them correctly within my own work. I also found it very useful understanding creative commons.
The Use of creative commons and how to use and reference OER's: This was something that I was not aware of.
The benefits of Open Educational Resources for students are the following 1. more collaborative approach to learning. 2. Enhanced peer to peer collaboration network development. 3. Increased digital capacity 4. Communication skills and lifelong learning
The benefits for staff is 1. Enhanced student centered approach 2. Educators are modelling an open practice for students. 3.Reflection on teaching through sharing collaboration and co-creation. 4. Enhanced collaboration between individuals, communities and across disciplines nationally and internationally

Online tools that can be used
Coggle: Initially I found coggle difficult to use and a small bit of a challenge. But after using now a few times I think it is resource that I might use in the future.
Screen Casting: I found screen casting extremely beneficial. I found it was very quick and easy to use. I have used this technology three times in my own work and it has proven to be very useful. Here are some tips I found useful.

: This technology is really good. It takes a bit longer to get to grips with and use. I have developed something for education athletes on supplements using this technology.
Slack : I like using slack. It was easy to directly ask questions and instantly communicate with other group members. I can see how it might be useful to use within a team environment.
Twitter: I found this article helpful

when thinking about introducing twitter. We have a cohort of tutors and I am planning on creating a group and flagging work conducted by other NADO's that might be of interest in their work. I have also challenged them all tweet when out delivering education to athletes using the #cleangreensport. Athletes and tutors have now started to share and comment on tweets. This may be due to more people tweeting about anti-doping not just Sport Ireland.
I developed some videos for social media to make tweets more visual.. Again these have increased the amount of traction we have gotten in relation to tweets and re-tweets. Since January 2017 the anti-doping tweets have been the top tweet and top media tweet every month
this tutorial is also helpful into how it can be integrated into a curriculum
