Identity theft
Names, addresses, social security numbers can be stolen and can be used to commit identity fraud
Theft of money
Hackers can manage to obtain bank and credit card details and they can be used to steal cash

If a computer at a business is hacked, customer info can be stolen
Loss of important info
Hackers break into computer to delete information that looks inmportant
Stealing email addresses
If email addresses are stolen, they can be used for spamming purposes

Hacking is where people access computer systems without permission.
How do hackers get into a computer system?
By Simply guessing the password
By using a keylogger
A key logger is a type of software that is secretly sent to a computer system and then it logs every thing the person is typing
It is then sent back to the hacker and the hacker looks for usernames and passwords
Why do people try to hack computer systems?
To cause damage to files or data by deleting or changing them
To commit fraud by stealing data (eg. bank details)
To access sensitive information
To see if they are clever enough to beat the systems security
How to prevent hacking?
User IDs and Passwords
Make the computer system require a user-ID and password to gain access to it
Make sure the password is secure and you are the only one who knows it
Make sure your password includes numbers and letters and possibly symbols
Biometric authentication
Face Scans
Iris Scans
Fingerprint Scans
