Gravitational Fields
Any object with mass will experience an attractive force if put in the gravitational field of another object (only objects with large mass (i.e. stars/planets) have a significant effect)
-
-
if both masses are uniform spheres, can be assumed to behave like point masses where r is the distance between the centres
Gravitational field lines = arrows showing the direction of the force a mass would feel in a gravitational field
Close to the Earths surface, field lines ≈ parallel and equally spaced ∴ assume the field is uniform
A mass m has its own gravitational field however it doesn't have a noticeable effect on the [Earth] as the [Earth] is much more massive
