Oral Cavity

TONGUE
Skeletal muscle covered in mucous (contains liquid, immune cells + electrolytes)
Saliva
Secreted from 3 glands: Submandibular, sub lingual and parotid
Functions: moistens food, cleanses mouth, allows taste and begins chemical digestion - AMYLASE, CARB DIGESTION
Food then travels to the OROPHARYNX --> PHARYNX then propels food to the oesophagus and also secretes mucous for its ease of passage

Stomach
Once partially digested, exits the stomach via the PYLORIC SPHINCTER to enter the small intestine. Called Chyme at the point!
