Excessive gas, diarrhea, bloating, stomach pain

Symptoms usually kick in within 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption

Who Does It Affect?
Anyone can be lactose intolerant
Can affect children, adults, and the elderly
More common with Asian, African, Native American, or Mediterranean ancestry

4 Types of Lactose Deficiency
Primary lactase deficiency (most common)
Secondary lactase deficiency (results from some form of injury to small intestine)
Developmental lactase deficiency (may occur in infants prematurely, usually only lasts short time after birth)
Congenital lactase deficiency (rare case, small intestine produces little or no lactase enzyme from birth)
