Sir Edmund Hillary
Edmund saved the life of his friend, who was climbing with him. His friend, Tenzing Norgay, had snow clogged up in his oxygen pipe. At the altitude they were at, they couldn’t take of the masks because they would suffocate and Tenzing couldn’t tell Edmund. Luckily, Edmund noticed that his friend was having trouble and managed to empty the pipe and save Tenzing’s life

His name in Italian is Cristoforo Colombo and, in Spanish, it is Cristóbal Colón.[3] He was born before 31 October 1451 in the territory of the Republic of Genoa (now part of modern Italy), though the exact location remains disputed.[10][b] His father was Domenico Colombo,[3] a middle-class wool weaver who worked both in Genoa and Savona and who also owned a cheese stand at which young Christopher worked as a helper. His mother was Susanna Fontanarossa.

It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.
People do not decide to become extraordinary. They decide to accomplish extraordinary things.
You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things -- to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals.
