Chapter 1
Plot

Ralph and Piggy meet and discuss their circumstances. Ralph's dad was in the navy and he assumed they would be saved.
Jack is introduced with the choir which become the hunters. They come from a military school and they're very organized.
A plane has crashed on an island in the dawn of the next world war. The boys were being evacuated during a nuclear war.
Jack, Simon, and Ralph go exploring and find they're on an island by themselves. During this, Piggy tries to collect the boys name and how many people are on the island.
Theme
There are certain characters that stand out already and those will be important and represent the archetype

Chapter 2
Plot
Ralph, Simon, and Jack come back from exploring.
Ralph says conch means you can speak and the others are suppose to listen. He discusses how they could be on the island for a very long time.
A young boy talked about a snake like "beastie" that he was afraid of and the others didn't take it seriously.

They all collect wood and they set the fire by using Piggy's glasses. Jack and Ralph also bond during this process.
The boys are English and they agree to not be savages. Piggy tries to express his concerns but Jack overrules him.
Jack says he and his hunters will maintain the fire. The fire ends up spreading and the boys don't take it seriously.
Piggy finally tells them they are not being serious enough and they need to get their priorities straight. He also tells them he didn't get to count all the kids and now a younger child is missing.

Chapter 3
Plot
He's not successful, but he gets more and more motivation to achieve victory.
Jack goes back to the beach where Simon and Ralph are creating shelter. They have been working on it for a long time.
Jack is still determined to kill and hunt. The chapter starts off with Jack being very sneaky on the island and hunting for a pig.
Ralph and Jack start discussing their issues to each other. Jack really wants meat and Ralph wants shelter. In their discussion, it seems that Jack doesn't care about Ralph's goals.
While they are discussing ,Simon goes off by himself. He finds a place on the beach where somone tries to make a sand shelter.
Simon wonders off to his special place and the children follow him. He picks the ripe fruit for them and continues to his clearing. It also mentions in the book that Ralph thought Simon was delightfully gay and wicked.

Chapter 4
Plot
The boys got used to the days going by and the littluns even had their own separate group that worked well together.
Henry, Johnny, and Percival were playing on the beach.
They picked fruit, comforted each other, and sometimes cried for their mother. The young boys liked the excitement of the assemblies as well
Jack begins to paint his face like camo. He says the pigs can see him and he uses the charcoal- like paint to cover his face.

Ralph, Piggy, and Siomn were near the water and they seen a ship.

Jack, Samneric, and the others came chanting with the carcass of a pig. Ralph was infuriated and Jack hit piggy, because he made a remark.

Jack and the others went to make another fire and they ate the pig that night, He didn't give piggy any, but Simon gave Piggy his.

Chapter 5
Plot

He discusses making shelters, using the bathroom, fear, fire, etc.
Jack says the littluns are usless and there is no beast. Piggy agrees with some of it, and talks about the physiological part of fear
Phil (littlun) speaks up and explains his nightmare. He said he had a dream he was outside the shelter. He seen something in the vines. When he actually woke up, he was outside and seen something moving in the forest.
Ralph say it must have just been a dream, but Simon confesses he was out late going to his special place.
Piggy points out Percival and he begins to speak. He start to cry but does say his full name and address, along with he believes the beast comes out of the water. Maurice then says his dad believes there are things in the ocean(Squids that eat whole whales). Maurice also says he doesn't believe in the beast.
Simon speaks up and says that possibly the beast is real. No one really pays attention to him and they disagree harshly.
Someone mentions maybe there is a ghost on the Island. This causes chaos between the boys and some believe in it.
Piggy and Jack argue. Ralph wrestles the conch out of someone's hand and tries to take charge again. He suggests that they talk about it tomorrow.
Jack goes off on Simon and says that it doesn't matter if Ralph is the leader. Ralph says the rules are the only thing keeping them together.
Jack goes off with the others to "kill the beast." Ralph doesn't know if he can be chief anymore. Ralph and Simon convince him to stay leader.

Chapter 6
Plot
-
Ralph held a meeting at dawn the next morning and he said that they would go explore and check out the area. Sam and Eric explained the beast very dramatic and Jack had never explored that area before.

Jack also said the conch wasn't important and started talking without permission. Ralph had to show leadership.
There was a plane fight 10 miles above the island and a body flew down. It was a dead pilot that had parachuted out of the plane.
The group started walking and Simon and Ralph were in the back. Ralph was happy to take a break from leading.
When they reached their destination, Ralph led the way by himself. Jack followed and they realized nothing was there.
When the other knew it was clear they came and became pushing rocks. Ralph demanded they get the fire going.

Chapter 7
Plot
As they were traveling Ralph realized Piggy should'y be alone. Simon offers to go back for him and starts traveling that way.
Jack, Ralph and Roger began traveling up the mountain following the pig run. Jack kept mocking Ralph and what he said. Ralph dared for Jack to go by himself.
Ralph threw a spear at a boar and swore he hit it. The others started reenacting a kill and they used someone as the pig.
Jack went alone. He came back frightened and said he seem something "bulging." Jack hesitated to go back up and Jack never hesitates.
Simon reassured Ralph that he would go home " I just think you'll get back alright." He also remembered he used to live in a cottage with both his parents. The cottage had lots of books that were humorous.
They all three went up and the ape like thing lifted its head. It was actually the paratrooper and the wind making his parachute lift his body. They all were very frightened and dropped their spears and ran.

After traveling awhile they took a break to eat fruit. They sat around and Ralph noticed the boys hygiene. It was good to them but actually quite dirty.

Chapter 8

Plot
Simon went to his happy place . Jack and his group viciously killed a sow and skewered the head on a stick for the beast.
Simon had hallucinations that the pig head "The Lord of the Flies" was talking to him . He said the beast was within them (the boys).
When they were making the fire it took a long time because a lot of the boys left. When they were done Samneric and Piggy brought Ralph some fruit and said they'd be happy.

Jack ran off and Ralph believed he would be back. Piggy is glad that he is gone. Simon suggests climbing the mountain and Piggy says they should start a fire on the mountain.
Jack called an assembly and called Ralph a coward. He took a vote of who wanted him to be leader and no one raised their hand.

Chapter 10

Plot
-
The 3 boys went and got wood, while Piggy stayed behind because of his asthma. The twins started complaining and they decided to let the fire die down for the night instead of working through the night.
Ralph, Piggy, Sam, and Eric stayed on the platform.
Late at night the boys heard something that they thought was the beast , but it was just the savages. Ralph said he hoped the beast liked the littluns.
Jack and the rest of the savages had their own tribe. They were planning to hunt and also they needed to be able to start a fire.

Chapter 12

Plot

The naval officer said he figured the British boys would put on a better show. The boys began to cry and think of everything that had happened over the years. All the emotions came to them at once.

The twins were scared and they told him he needed to go . The twins also said the others were going to hunt him.
