law applies to everyone even those who govern
Limited government- the government cant really intervene with civil liberties
Separation of power-
there are three separate but equal branches of government. the legislative branch makes the law and the executive branch will enforces the law
check and balances- gives each government the right to amend or void certain acts of the branches

means the rule by the people who is the source of all the power
republicanism- people hold sovereignty rather than being subjects to a king

New jersey plan- was formed for alternate plans for smaller states
Great Compromise-based off the Virginia and new jersey plan. consisted of proportional representatives in the lower house and equal representatives in upper house
