Process
Done by
anointing
a candidate with chrism, through laying of the
hand
by the minister, who then pronounces the
words
of the
sacramental rite.
In the west, the anointing is done on the forehead, with the words "Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit".
In the east churches of the Byzantine rite, the anointing is done on other parts of the body, with the words "The seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Who is the minister of confirmation?
The minister is the
bishop
. In this way the link between the confirmed and the Church would manifest.
Who can receive this sacrament?
Only
those who were baptized can participate in Confirmation.
The candidate must also be in a
state of grace.
This sacrament can only be received once.
