Great Britain (Parliament) imposed taxes and acts upon the colonists. For example, the stamp act and the tea act.They had no say in any of it.
Battle of Concord
It was a battle between the British and Patriots. The British were trying to get the Patriots weapon stash. The citizens had been warned by Paul Revere. The British were forced to retreat because the colonists had gathered a big group of men to fight them.
The colonists were defending their land. The British didn't have to worry about it because they were not in their hometown with THEIR land.
