Taxes were one of the reasons the Revolutionary War was started. The king was taxing everything and the Patriots were mad because they had no say in it.
Another reason was because they had no representation in government. They had no say.
The king was imposing very strict rules on the trade market.
A very important event in the War is the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It was a testimony against the rules the king made and it was also a plea for Independence.
Another important event was the Treaty of Paris. It was where the Americans and the British finally became friends.
The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the beginning of the war. It was the first battle between the British and the Americans.
Some of the advantages the Patriots had were knowledge of the land.
