Causes of the revolution
TAXES: England taxed the colonists to pay off war debt from the French and Indian War (Tea act, Sugar act,
Quartering act: British soilders were living in the colonists' houses
The colonists couldn't trade freely, England had strict control over the trade
British governors had complete control over the colonies
Colonists had to obey British laws that were enforced by the governor
The colonies had no repersentation in Parliment

French and Indian War: A larger imperial war between Great Britain and France
Battle of Saratoga: A major battle of the Revolutionary War, fought in 1777 in northern New York state.
Boston Massacre: Colonists in Boston were shot after taunting British soldiers
Surrender at Yorktown: The last battle of the Revolutionary War, fought in 1781 near the seacoast of Virginia. There the British general Lord Cornwallis surrendered his army to General George Washington.
Declaration of Independence: On July 4, 1776, the colonies declared their independence, the Declaration was signed a month later.
Boston Tea Party: Samuel Adams and Paul Revere led patriots (Sons of Liberty) in throwing tea into Boston Harbor to protest tea taxes.
