Human Gut Microbiome
-
What we can do:
-
I would also like to see fast food changed to include less saturated fats and simple sugars and more probiotics that help our immune systems
Educate people on how its important to think about what we are putting into our bodies and think about where it comes from/what its made of
Raise awareness of how these food choices are changing how are body functions and that by changing our diets, even if we don't lose a lot of weight immediately we are still decreasing our risks of disease by making our micro biome healthier
-
-
allows us to find a new version of a healthy diet that could physically change the way we feel and behave
f an even stronger correlation between eating unhealthy food like fast food while pregnant leads to children with more autoimmune diseases then companies like McDonalds could face serious problems with changing their standards.
This lesson is valuable because it could change people’s perspectives on what it means to be healthy and not just look good but avoiding internal damage that leads to diseases.
but also about how treating our bodies correctly and with the right foods means we also need to consider the micro biome and how we are affecting it.
What is the microbiome
Our genes may not be the most important factor in establishing disease and some of our food preferences.
what the microbiome is and that we can quantifiably measure the differences in people micro biomes and see the changes based on what they eat, do and live
I have also learned a lot about the human micro biome in general and how it can be changed by many facts like the environment, the buildings we live in, the food we eat, and even who we are related to and how were born.
While some people may not care about genetics or believe that it is true, this is something that people should be interested in learning about because it will affect them as they get older and the microbiome becomes more understood.
When you're stressed you can physically change your microbiome and turn off certain neural pathways and respond to food differently
Because it is an important piece in our biology and has a role in determining our traits and diseases it is something that most people should understand why it is there and how it can affect us and how we can affect it.
The issue of what the human microbiome is should matter to others because in most cases people have never heard of the human microbiome is and so it is a foreign concept.

Micorbiome Inheritance
-
Lless diverse microbiome can increase our children's risk to certain diseases as soon as they are born
The food we eat while pregnant and in general can create an imbalanced and less diverse microbiome passed down to our children
Even if no desire to take care of themselves they will change unhealthy or dangerous aspects of their lives in order to help their children.
If they eat only food that limits the immune system they are not only putting themselves at risk but also their children for diseases that are becoming more and more prominent like obesity and diabetes.
-
Passed down just like our genetic code, including through epigenetic from our fathers
-
-
Antiobiotics
Not sure how to integrate that while still talking about the food aspect involved in our microbiome.
Antibiotics severely decrease the diversity of the microbiome especially in children and older adults
