Film auditions- Characters auditioned for, how prepped, how I felt beforehand, how I felt it went
Characters I went for:
(CCTV Productions) "Truth" - Katie, Lauren and Assistant
"Hidden In Plain Sight" - San
(JSACK) "This Just In" - Jean
"Try As You Might" - Kathleen
How I prepped:
Read characters bio and understood their traits and personalities as best I could. Then read audition scene and went through to see what emotions I should be portraying and how my character might do that - getting into their mind set. I then used emotional memory to use for these.
How I felt beforehand:
The nerves hit about 10 minutes before when I was waiting outside for them to call me. The nerves got worse as each audition went on, although I got less shaky. As I knew we didn't have to be perfect off script this was one less worry but the restriction of having a script scared me.
How I felt it went:
"Truth" - I felt this went okay. Didn't feel like I did Katie as my best as I wasn't in the correct mind set (scared) I found it okay to switch, but not able to perform to the best of my abilities switches characters at an instant. I felt the same for the other two ("Hidden In Plain Sight") characters. I feel I did them well but not sure if they were 'believable' but this is something I feel I would be able to do when in the mind set and had time to work on my characters background etc.
"Try As You Might" - I know from watching others rehearse I approached this scene differently from others. Where I found some shouted this scene, I focussed more on my patronising tone to try and get into 'Rodney's' head. I find I struggle more with characters that have a dark side as I class myself as a very happy person so struggle to use emotional memory to create this character, but if I was to get this I would do research into people who can commit crimes meaninglessly and their thought processes to make this character more believable.
"This Just In" - I didn't feel confident with this one at all. I was finding it challenging to understand who this character was just basing it off the script extracts given. I felt like this clearly came across in my performance and I felt in the moment that I was just saying the lines, and the fact I felt this whilst doing it proves I wasn't in character. I didn't feel confident with this one at all.
I realised in the room how the camera was set up so I felt like I couldn't move much so that I could stay in shot, and also couldn't move much anyway because of my script in hand restricting me. This is something I would definitely have changed and wouldn't do in a real audition
Cast List
"Katie" (Truth): I was over the moon to get Katie as I'm really excited with this storyline to see how it turns out. I think it will be a really interesting storyline to play and get into this mind set. I', really looking forward into researching and becoming this character
"Jean" (This Just In): I was genuinely surprised to get this role. I scrolled past it at first because I was so sure that I didn't get it, and then had to read it a few times to make sure. I am thrilled to get another part and with the m both being quite different characters with huge differences in storylines, I can't wait to get started
Week 3

Films
Watched last years films. Wrote notes (in book) on what we thought. Wrote a film with smiley or frowny to put in a pot if what we think someone should watch.

Week 4
Truth
Tues 14th
A.M. Worked through Truth script with other cast members. Read through to answer character bio questions. Found these answers and then developed all of our characters backstory and relationships and shared these with each other where neccesary
-
P.M. Worked as 'atmosphere'/ background artists in pub scene in Try As You Might. People watch - my person - ear, mouth. Don't overact and attract attention. Think about women in the 60s.
