Community, District, & School Factors
Urban area with most homes being three bedrooms’ homes.

*With a population of 666 at Luella Merrett Elementary School. Ethnicity at this elementary varies from Hispanic, African American, White, Native American, and mix race.
Community- Residential houses that are 3 to 4 bedroom houses, a Frank Kent Cadillac car dealership, and a church across the street.
Classroom Factors
The assigned seats consist of four to five students to each group. There is a table for small group instruction that allows up to five to six students.
There is a smart board in the classroom that my mentor teacher uses sometimes to teach.

There are five students with special needs. One student is dyslexic, two students are SPED, and the other two students are yet to be determined.
Approaches to learning
Visual-Smartboard
Auditory- direct instruction, and headphones at the computer station
Kinetics- None in the classroom
Skill levels and prior learning
Two students in the classroom have just arrived from other countries so they are not aware of the national holidays.
According to the TEKS the students should know how to explain the significance about important holidays.
