if i get bored with endocrinology or if it gets to hard I might lose a lot of money and i dont want to force myself to go into a major i dont like and then later in life end up not loving the job that I earn witht the major I chose during college
YELLOW
Cons -
- difficult to study. A lot of analytical work. Need to be real good in physiology. Among all the different speciality, this is one that need to study a lot. And u need a good brain to remember it.
- not easy to understand, unlike surgery whereby you can see and experiment. It's a challenge to proof diagnosis, except the common ones eg DM.
- heavy workload and don't pay as well compare to the effort you put in other field.
- frequent call duties.
- strong competitive
- high risk of legal issue. Cos frequently wrong diagnosis and differential diagnosis are pretty close. Eg not easy to differentiate second degree heart block and wolf parkinson symptoms.
Pro -
- regular income
- pretty steady lifestyle.
- if you are good, highly respected even from fellow colleagues of other faculty.
- very rewarding and high satisfaction. Esp able to diagnose rare syndromes.
- possible to make a name if you discover some new syndrome, and it can be name after you, eg Marfan syndrome. Not quite possible in other field.
- wide field to be able to conduct research.
RED
i love the salary the job comes with which is 180K a year it is enough for me to support my family and you work 50 hours work weeks which is what i would like to do because working long hours is something i prefer doing
BLUE
