children and young people: the media is a great influence in peoples lives. many people develop opinions based on what they see in the media. teenagers are portrayed in the media as being antisocial and 'chavs' this isn't always an accurate opinion on all teenagers. may teenagers are viewed in the same way.
vulnerable adults: they are weak and inclined to sway with trends that are portrayed in the media. they can also be seen as scared to do things alone and therefore the 'loners' of society as they chose to isolate to isolate themselves.
people with disabilities: people with disabilities: a study has shown that disabled people are commonly shown as one of the ten things in the media: 1.The disabled person as pitiable or pathetic
2.An object of curiosity or violence

9.As Non-sexual
10.Being unable to participate in daily life
minority ethnic groups: a lot of media courage shows ethnic minorities in a way that isn't an accurate portrayal of the entire ethnicity. for example there is lots of media coverage of terrorists. therefore it makes people think that all Muslims are terrorists.
men and women: women are portrayed as sexual beings in the media. this is through magazines and newspapers which contain images of women with little to no clothing. also men are shown as having to be muscly and tall in order to fit into the stereotype of the perfect man.
older people: they are portrayed as -helpless victims - elders who defy negative stereotypes are presented as bizarre and comical - growing old is equated with inevitable deterioration an decline - elders are demonized as a group- they are under-represented and ignored-
peers:
children and young people: children grow up taking influence from their peers, children will try to change the ways they act and the views they have in order to fit in with their friends
vulnerable adults: they rely on their peers in order to help them through their life. they tend not to make new friends so they heavily rely on the social relationships that they already have.
people with disabilities: they form friendships where they rely on their friendships to help them with their disabilities.
ethnic minorities: ethnic minorities form close nit groups with one another in order to make friends within society. however this can make outside people from that group feel as though the ethnic minorities segregate themselves.
older people: elderly people will form close communities with people that are around the same age group as them. this could make them look isolated.
workplace:
vulnerable adults: can be seen as loners as they don't ever socialize. a lot of people will develop their friendships at work.
people with disabilities: not every workplace can accommodate for all types of disabilities therefor they can begin to feel that they will never work.
minority ethnic groups: in the workplace a person from a minority ethnic group may feel isolated. this is because the other people that work their may isolate them due to them being an ethnic minority.
men and women: in certain work places such as a mechanics, women may be seen as weak meaning that they wouldn't necessarily be accepted in the work place. they are seen as being unable to do some jobs that men can do .
older people: they may be seen as being incapable to do certain jobs. jobs that are strenuous or tiring may not let an older person work their, even if they re completely capable.
education
children and young people: are influenced in many ways at school. the curriculum they learn determines what things they are exposed to throughout their education and life.
people with disabilities: disabled people are shows as being people in need in education. students may learn about the ways to accommodate people with disabilities. this may make disabled people come across as though they need help and support with everything that they do. which isn't necessarily the case.
minority ethnic groups: children may not learn about a variety of different religions whilst at school. this means that when they come in counter with a person of this religion they might be less inclined to engage with them.
older people: in education, older people are portrayed as being vulnerable, helpless and ancient. this is a common stereotype for an older person.
