Christopher Columbus- Is a Italian explorer responsible for the European discovery of America in 1492. 
Tenochtitlan- Tenochtitlan was the capital city of the Aztec Empire from the middle of the 1300s to the early 1500s. 
Hernan Cortes- Spanish conquistador who defeated the Aztecs and conquered Mexico. 
Montezuma- Montezuma was emperor of the Aztecs at the time of the Spanish conquest. During the Aztec revolt he was killed by his own people. 
Castas- Castas was a hierarchical social class system created by Spanish elites in Hispanic America during the eighteenth century.
Mexico City- Capital of Mexico and largest city in the country, located in central Mexico. 
Inquisition-A court made by the Roman Catholic Church in the thirteenth century to try cases of heresy and other offenses against the church. Those convicted could be handed over to the civil authorities for punishment, including execution.

Pueblo- An American Indian settlement of the southwestern US, especially one with a lot of adobe houses built by the Pueblo people. 
Apache- A member of a Native American people inhabiting the southwest United States and northern Mexico. 
Chaco Canyon- A canyon in northwest New Mexico containing a group of Ancestral Puebloan settlements. 
Anasazi- A member of an ancient American Indian people of the southwestern US. 
Archaeologist- a person who studies human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains.
