Learning and Technology Policy Framework
Teachers need professional development, we can’t expect them to teach something they are not familiar with. That's why teachers need to develop and maintain knowledge that will allow them to use technology effectively.
If you don’t have the commitment of leadership. You will struggle with technology. Educational leaders establish structures and guidelines that cultivate innovation. The goal is to use technology effectively to support student-centered learning.
Research and Innovation
It’s the idea of changing the curriculum to create and innovating these new tools to effectively teach students. Teachers need to stay current with educational technology.
Access, Infrastructure, and Digital Learning Environments
The outcome should be that student, and admins should have access to devices. It should be equitable. School authorities should have network and infrastructure in place.
Technology should give students more choice in what they do. You want students to research on their own, to develop a digital citizenship. We want to make an authentic learning environment.
ICT Program of Studies
Communicating, Inquiring, Decision Making
and Problem Solving
Students use technology to communicate, use, and access information. The information allows students to find different viewpoints and teaches them to critically assess the information they find. Organization and collaboration will aid students with technology, teaching them to solve problems and create personal knowledge.
Foundational Operations, Knowledge
This is when students demonstrate their understanding of technology. Where they become a digital citizen and understand the role technology places in today's world. They are an ethical and moral citizen, they understand the skills required for technology. They understand how technology applies to school and themselves.
A Way of Doing Things
The ICT introduces new ways to solve problems, communicate, inquire, and make decisions. It teaches us to gather and identify information, classify and organize, summarize and synthesize, analyze and evaluate, speculate and predict. These practices are exhibited in the classrooms we teach, allowing teachers to introduce these practices to students.
Processes for Productivity
This is how students use the tools given to them. Students should be able to compose, and edit text. To organize their data, while learning how to convey a message through multimedia. The students shows their knowledge of different applications and uses technology to communicate with others.
What Students Learn
Students learn that just because technology can seem complex, it is just a way of doing things. That technology will be used later in their lives and the understanding of these tools can attribute to them solving problems and inquiring new ideas that they wouldn't think possible.
