What I know already...
Islam is a religion based on 5 pillars, these pillars are monotheism, continuous prayer, giving to the poor and understanding what it feels like to be poor, and finally, to travel to Mecca at least one time in life.
Muhammad was a merchant, therefore he lived off of cultural exchange, which made his messages open to any culture.
Angle Gabriel, messenger of God, told Muhammad to spread the messages of God.
Muhammad said that "prayer was proof", which is why people, still pray a lot (5 times a day)
Muhammad never wanted to be rich, and often refused to have a decent meal, respecting those who weren't able to have it. Therefore, one of his messages was the Ramadan, which is a month is which people do not eat a lot. This act should show people what it feels like to be poor.
During the travel to Mecca people have to go around the Kaba 7 times.
People pray towards the Kaba, for they feel unified with God, and because in the past, people say Muhammad got he message from God, that told him to orient the prayers towards Mecca and the Kaba.
