THE STANDARD:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RST.11-12.7
Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., quantitative data, video, multimedia) in order to address a question or solve a problem
The big ideas
Integrate: Graphic organizer creation, students will create a graphic organizer to help them understand how this new information affects them.
Graphic organizer 100% usage. Students will be allowed to use their graphic organizer whenever they feel the need to.
Graphic organizer 75% usage(student choice). Teacher will begin decreasing the amount of times that they are able to use their organizer, at this point the student can decide when to use it
Graphic organizer 50% usage(student choice). Teacher will continue decreasing the amount of times that they are able to use their organizer, here also the student decides when and when not to use it.
Graphic organizer 25% usage(teacher choice). Teacher will continue decreasing the amount of times that they are able to use their organizer, here however, the teacher chooses when the student may use it.

Evaluate:Evaluating a source of information for truth claims can be difficult . Initially the teacher may increase the explanations between fact and bias and eventually the students may make posters separating the two for them to use on their own
Explanation: Teachers increased explanation and articulation can be a meaningful first step, here the students get a little bit more help via more explanation.
Posters: After teachers give better information and explanations, students may make their own posters to keep with them until they are able to remember the info better.
Remove the posters: At this point the students shouldn't need to have their posters, they should be able to put them away and be able to evaluate without needing more help.
