Physiological development
Late adolescents typically reach sexual maturity at this stage (although it can vary from person to person).
Teenagers during this stage also develop distinct eating habits (good or bad).
Teachers can emphasise healthy eating, exercise and adequate sleep which in turn will provide a good conditions for learning.
Academic achievement
During late adolescence students have the ability to undertake in-depth studies on specific subject topics.
Teachers give students choices regarding subjects and assignment tasks while maintaining a high academic standard.
Students are able to study more what they are particularly interested in.
Teachers should design in-depth tasks or research projects that utilise the students critical thinking, analytic thinking, and the development of real world skills.
Teachers should provide additional academic support to students who are struggling with the content/ assignments.
Social interactions
Teachers must show respect and caring for all adolescence .
Adolescence develop philosophies for life.
Adolescence question rules and social norms.
Adolescence are given more responsibilities and independence.
Teachers should encourage students to make a difference in their communities.
Considering the future
Students in this age group will begin to seriously consider career paths and /or further education.
Teachers can help and provide guidance so that students can explore a wide variety of career or study options.
