What advocacy organizations are putting evaluation data - metrics - or explicitly articulating in their communications/website about the impact of their work (check Unicef) and what do those look like is it research or is it more impact oriented - data that suggests the work they are doing is having a measurable impact? Are any of these showing up in peer reviewed journals? Some attention to this quickly even if not fully would be fantastic. Advocacy organizations in my mind include: EDF/Environmental Defense, Sierra Club, Defenders of Wildlife, National wildlife federation, Friends of the earth, WCS (but only their campaigns part), ocean conservancy, oceana, Unicef, BUT there are so much more and particularly more outside of the environmental focus (but we can get to that later!!).
