Complaints against the church
Problems with popes
1378-1417 two popes claimed power. 1417, people agreed on candidate and kicked out the others.
Indulgences
Popes used indulgences to pay for things in the church and to get rich. Making them very corrupt.
Clerical corruption
Popes and Cardinals were like kings. Even having their own army.
Bishops held multiple offices and became very corrupt from money. Baught their way into office.
