Some people consume research, and others produce research. Consumers of research spend a lot of time reading other people's research rather than conducting their own.

Permission must be sought for collecting any data or information that involves people, because of privacy laws such as the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)

Types of research
Quantitative data is measurable and specific and therefore easier to chart or graph. Quantitative data gathering is based on verifying theory through the use of statistics and largely numerical data.
Qualitative data is harder to measure than quantitative data. You can gather qualitative data using instruments such as interviews, focus groups, video footage and observation.
