During the war, the taxes increased for the military for the causes of uniforms, materials, technology, hospitality, transportation, etc. Although the war must've not been easy too afford (even though the people were not paid a great amount), Europe was the most powerful at that time, and they knew the economical benefits coming after would've been worth it.
