People would want food and drink because they are essential parts of life, a means of necessary survival. Also, they can earn money or different environment, when they traded food and drinks. Long ago, spices was one of the important and rare thing, so people tried spices with gold.
People would want gold because that would make them richer and boost their economy. When they are rich they can make more tools to fight against different country.
People would want fur because they need warm clothes to wear during the winter.
People wanted spices because they made people rich. ( By selling the spices. ) Countries also wanted spices because spices were also a luxury item that you couldn't earn easily get if you were poor
Why would people want land?
People would want land to expand the amount of territory they own. This can also ignite strong senses of patriotism and nationalism within citizens.
When people own lands, then they can have the environment (money). Also, they can trade the foods and drinks they have to have different countries to have new foods from different country. Also, they can use the cheap labor to make them be slave or army .
Can imperialism in this situation be justified
No, it cannot be justified, as the "Americans" just barged into a land that was already owned by someone else and took over, just so that they could profit and escape the hardships of their own country.
Imperialism - a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
It can not be justified because in the land that the "Americans" insist they have found was actually a home to the Native Americans. They did not take the land in a fair way because the native americans did not have guns like the "Americans" which means that it was not a fair fight. All that the Native Americans had were rock spears and some other weapons made out of rocks. ( Weapons made out of materials they could find )
