Follows (90 Second Short Film)
Plot
The short film portrays an average day a teenager goes through; however the teen is followed by a dark figure.
The dark figure is represents depression, and the figure gets bigger and bigger throughout the short film. The figure at the end of the short film overcomes the teenager, symbolising suicide.
Characters
The characters within the short film will consist of one main character (the teenager) and a few side characters (friends and family of the main character).
The Main Character
Teenager - 16 - 19 years of age
Male or Female
Any ethnicity (more than likely white as I may be playing the role of the character)
The side characters
Friends and Family of the main character
Male or Female
The friends of the character will be the same age of the main character.
Visual Ideas and Styles
Lighting
The overall lighting of the production will be dark, to represent the depression aspect. There will also be light parts, to show even in the happy moments depression will still be there. The film will gradually go from light to dark throughout.
Shots
The shot lengths will be ultimately long, so that the audience will be able to take in what is happening in the shots and notice the background surrounding the characters.
Sounds
The sound will be eerie, to give the audience an uncomfortable feeling. The music will also link the tone of the film.
Visual Inspiraton
Target Audience
The overall target audience for the short film will be teenagers who have/are facing depression. I would want to create awareness of the metal issue that effects a variety of teenagers. As well as creating awareness of it, the film would get the message across that you should get help to ensure that depression would not follow them anymore.
