Rock Cycle
Igneous rocks
There are two types of igneous rock: Intrusive and Extrusive
igneous rocks form when magma cools slowly below the Earth's surface.Intrusive rocks have large crystals.
Extrusive igneous rocks form when magma reaches the Earth's surface a volcano and cools quickly. Most extrusive (volcanic) rocks have small crystals.
Examples: Obsidian granite
Sedimentary Rocks
These are formed through layers of sediments in the ground
The sedimentsare rocks that fall into the water
Examples: Limestone, Sandstone
Metamorphic Rocks
There rocks are formed through heat and pressure underground
Any rock can become metamorphic
Example: Marble, Slate
The Three Types Of Weathering
Physical
Physical weathering is caused by the effects of changing temperature.
Chemical
When rocks are broken up by chemical reactions
Biological
When the rocks are broken or worn away by living things
