Normal clotting factors (hemostasis) (Phase III: plasma clotting factor…
Normal clotting factors (hemostasis)
Phase II: platelet plug formation
The Goal:
adenosine diphosphate: + adhesiveness/aggregation
von Willebrand factor (vWF) = carry factor VIII and bridge platelet to endothelial MADE IN: endothelial cells/megakaryocytes
platelet factor 3/ serotonin = coagulation
platelet lipoprotiern = stimulatis clotting convertions
vessel injury = exposed collagen attracts platelets = adheisiveness (platelets stick to each other + aggregation/agglutination (clumps form)
Phase IV: Lysis of clot
fibrinolysis
Initiated when: thrombin = plasminogen = plasmin = FSP or fibrin degradation products (FDP)
FSP
impaired platelet aggregation, -prothrombin, unstable fibrin
Risk for bleeding
The Goal: keep blood in a fluid state
Anticoagulation
Stimulated by: antithrombin (III), platelets, vessel, FSP, heparin, protein C/S
Phase I: vascular responce
Goal: reduce blood leakage and wall stikyness
vascular spasm lasts: 20-30min (just long enough for platelets to arrive and clott factors
vessel injury = immediate vasoconstriction/endothelial surface squeeze
Phase III: plasma clotting factor
The Goal: activation of (by prothrombin) thrombin = fibrinogen to fibrin
Extrinsic Path
stimulated by tissue factore (TF) or tissue thromboplastin
Intrinsic Path
stimulated by exposed collagen
