The Ship sails from England to the Antarctic, becomes stranded in the ice and fog until an Albatross shows up and then the ice splits and the ship sails through to the Pacific Ocean
Although the bird is playful and friendly to the mariners, and seems to be a good omen, the mariner shoots the bird with his crossbow
there is a wedding and an old man stops a guest to tell him a tale of a cursed ship
The old mariner has some magic power in his eye and forces the young man to listen

Part 2
The sailors initially blame the Mariner for killing the bird that brought them the breeze but then praise the mariner for killing the bird that brought them out of the land of the snow and mist
The ship is stuck in the doldrums near the equator and there are slimy sea creatures and a horrible heat and thirst
The ship is returning north after sailing through the Antarctic, they are now in south Pacific
The st. elmo's fire, and bioluminescence of the algae provoke feelings of superstition in the sailors and they dream that an evil spirit has followed them from the land of ice and snow
The sailors blame their fate on the mariner and hang the dead bird around his neck as a sign of guilt

Part 3
The ship is stuck in the doldrums; no wind and no water to drink
The Ghost ship comes sailing towards them with Lady Luck and Death on board playing dice for the sailor' souls
Lady Luck wins the game and he Ghost ship speeds away. Night falls
The sailor curse him with their eye ad then fall dead on the ship's deck leaving the Mariner alive all alone
Part 4
1 The Mariner spends over a week on the ship
2 He's dying of thirst, the ship won't move, and weird slimy sea creatures surround the ship and play in the light
3 The Mariner tries to pray but his heart is as dry as his mouth. He cannot pray because he feels guilty and he has tender feelings for God's creation
4 Eventually, after watching the creatures play in the water, he develops a fondness for them and this feeling in his heart brings him redemption.
5 the Albatross falls from his neck and he can pray again
Part 5
1 Because the curse is lifted, h sleeps and when he wakes up its raining-- then the wind is moving and the clouds are flying by showing him glimpses of the stars
2 The dead sailors rise up and start to work the ropes the way they had when they were alive and the mariner helps.
3 Wedding guest bursts in and is afraid of the zombie sailors the mariner reassures him that it was all angels, when they sun comes up they lay down and spirits leave their bodies
4 the spirits fly around the boat making sweet sounds, the ship moves on but not from the breeze. The spirit from the land of mist and snow.
5 Ship takes off in a hurry, the mariner falls down and faints and hears 2 voices talking above his head. They say he's the one that shot the bird. He's paid for his crime but will continue to pay.
