Use a gradual release of control. Just like traditional literacy, students have different levels of understanding in regards to technology. Technology integration should be carefully scaffolded, planned, and implemented with caution to ensure success.

Technology integration needs to be well thought out and purposeful. There should always be sound reasoning when implementing certain technologies in the classroom.
Technology as a Time Filler
Technology is not your babysitter.
Technology should put the power in the student's hands and move you into a position of a supervisor/director.
Technology as a Toy
Technology should be used as a toy during the student's own time. Not during school hours.
Today's students are technology natives, they need to become fluent in their language by implementing technology in a purposeful way.
