Purpose and Importance
Plays a major role with all human relations matter such as employer-employee relation. When all parts of the organisation communicate smoothly, it can improve workflow and overall productivity.
Develop trust within an organisation and is shown to have significant impact on employee engagement, organisational culture and productivity.

Formal
Upward
Upward flow of communication, from subordinates to superiors (opinions, ideas etc.)

Downward
Downward flow of communication, from supervisor to subordinates (instructions, orders etc.)
Diagonal
Uses the upward, downward and horizontal communication. Communication flow between employees of different ranks who have no direct reporting relationship.
The exchange of an information, thought and emotion between individuals of groups that occur inside the organisation for business purposes.
