ISTE Standards for Students 2016

Student-centered learning is necessary for students to effectively meet the 7 ISTE Standards for Students
states outcomes to be met by students, teachers, administrators, education professionals, and education leaders
states actions that are the responsibility of school authorities and the ministry of Education to allow outcomes to be met
teachers cannot meet the ISTE Standards for Teachers without these actions being met, for example without the school authorities ensuring a safe and secure network

assessment framework (sample assessment tasks for determining student competencies)

organized into 5 main standards

digital age learning (teachers use digital tools and technology to maximize learning)
teachers using technology effectively in the classroom will allow students to gain a greater understanding of the uses, nature, and impact of technology
digital age work (teachers model effective use of technologies in their lives)
teachers modelling effective use of technology gives students a role model for using technology productivity
digital citizenship (teachers model digital etiquette, safe, legal, and responsible use of technology
teachers modelling digital citizenship gives students a role model for being responsible digital citizens
student learning (teachers use knowledge, technology, and creativity to engage students)
teachers using resources to engage students results in students taking an active role in learning!
The combination of knowledge, technology, and creativity is necessary to combine the ICT Program of Studies with core subjects
professional growth (teachers promote lifelong learning)
teachers must be given opportunities for professional learning to meet the standard of professional growth
