Anatomy
Right Ventricle
-
- 3 semilunar cusps (L/R/Ant.)
Pulmonary valve
Trabeculae carnae
- muscle, irregular structure
- Chordae tendinae
- tricuspid
- Anterior: largest
- Posterior
- Septal
Septomarginal band:
- Bridge, lower interventricular septum and base of anterior papillary muscle
- Portion of cardiac conduction, anterior wall: right ventricle
Left Ventricle
- Anterior to left atrium
- Posterior and anterior cusp of mitral valve
- Aortic valve, aortic vestibule
- Blood recoils, ventricular contraction , fills aortic sinuses (formed by cusps), forced into coronary arteries
Right atrium
- Right border of heart
- Blood through SVC, IVC and coronary sinus (medial opening of IVC)
- Coronary sinus returns blood from walls of heart itself
Crista terminalis:
- Ridge on inside between atrium and right auricle
- SVC to IVC
- Posterior to wall is smooth
Musculi pectinati
- Anterior to crista terminalis
- Roughned by bundles of muscle fibres
-
-
Right auricle
- Ear-like, conical, muscular pouch overlapping aorta
Left atrium
- Most of base of heart
- 4 pulmonary veins
- Anterior half continuous with left auricle
- atrioventricular orifice, mitral valve
