ISTE Standards for Students
A student-centred method with which the student plays a major role in setting goals and strategies of learning while using technology.
Students will have an understanding of how to act as a digital citizen in regards to rights, responsibilities, managing personal data, and security.
Students will use the the technology at hand to gain knowledge and find information.
Students will use new technology to their advantage. They will think critically and solve complex problems by using the tools at hand.
Students will be able to fully express themselves and will be able to communicate their ideas and work using the appropriate technological tools.

Technology should be used in a student-centred approach to help the student gain important skills such as multiple literacies, knowing how to use technology to learn, managing information, developing their digital citizenship,
Applied research and innovation
Education personnel stay up to date on educational technology and use these innovations in the classroom
Teachers, administrators, and other education professionals continue to learn, re-learn, and maintain their technological knowledge in order to best support their students and how the teach.
Leaders create policy that allows technology to be used to its fullest potential.

Teachers should inspire their students to learn with digital tool by using their own knowledge of technology, curriculum, and education in general.
Digital Age Learning
Teachers should design personalized strategies for students using digital tools and create an environment where students can use technology to follow up on their unique interests.
Model digital age work and learning
Support students by using current digital technology to educate the students. Simultaneously teaching the necessary course work and also keeping the students up to date in the digital world
Teachers should make students aware of the concept of digital citizenship and how one should behave with the new technology. The teacher should also ensure equitable access to digital tools and resources
Professional growth and leadership
Teachers strive to be life long learners and stay up to date on current technology and technological research
