Biography

1564 he was born, his parents were John Shakespeare, and Mary Arden, father made gloves, and mother worked on a farm.
Lived in Stratford upon Avon, He went to school until he was thirteen, then his father became poor, so he couldn't go to school anymore.
1582 Married Anne Hathaway, which was a farmer. she was 7 months pregnant when they got married and had a daughter suzana, and then later had twins named Hamelet and Juliet.
1591 he moved to London, and became a writer making 37 plays and 154 sonnets

Towards end, was very wealthy for his works, and respected.
Used over 30,000 different words.
Writings consisted of histories, comedy, and tragedy.

Elizabethan Era

James Burbage helped start up a theater, doing bear bating, it helped vision what the new theater would be like. Globe theater was built in 1599

Population wasn't very big back then, so they had to perform lots of plays to attract the same people to come and watch the new plays, so that they can get more money.
Elizabethan Government
Government consisted of Monarch, Privy Council and Parliament. Those three worked together to makes laws, raise money, and decide religion and national defense.
Queen Elizabeth had advisors that were basically politicians, and they helped with running England, and if they disobeyed the Queen they were punished and most likely killed.
Queen Elizabeth was queen of England and Ireland. She made the laws, and those laws were mostly made up of her customs.
We don't know if Queen Elizabeth was liked or not, but she did love her country and the people. She wanted things to be what she thought would be best, but it might have not been liked because the laws were based on her customs.
