Education Technology Standards
ISTE Standards for Teachers
Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility: Teachers model correct use of the internet by showing safe, legal and ethical use. They use the internet appropriately and respectfully. Connection: Everyone using technology must be safe and ethical digital citizens through all of our online actions. We must understand that we have an digital identity for which we must maintain a responsible and appropriate reputation.
Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity: Teachers aim to foster student-centred learning through creativity and innovation. They promote student reflection and support inventiveness. Connection: Our students are our future so our classrooms should be focused on how they learn best. It is important that teachers recognize this significance and use technology to aid in creating a classroom that offers authentic and personal learning opportunities.

Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership: Teachers foster lifelong learning and continue to show effective leadership and use of new technologies. The exhibit the technology skills they want to see in their classroom and are a leader in their classroom and school community. Connection: Educational professionals should exhibit leadership by promoting and demonstrating effective use of technology. They should be willing to be a role-model for their students when it comes to technology and should always be willing to keep learning about new technology themselves.

Leadership: Teachers and authorities should support the use of technology for education in the aim for authentic student learning. Education professionals should become familiar with the technology uses so they can be effective and efficient with up--to date technology. They should use technology and their knowledge to meet the needs and interests of all their students.
Classroom environments should be conducive to digital learning. Students should learn how to use the tool when the time is right and the tool is right for what they need.
It's not just about the technology. The technology is just one tool! Technology cannot replace good teachers!
