8th Grade Pre-Algebra Class
Curriculum
Standards to be met
large amount of curriculum to teach in a small amount of time
Problem Solving
Word Problems
Students are able to solve word problems when guided on the steps to take to solve them. When a student is presented with a problem that requires numerous steps or higher order thinking skill, the student gives up before even attempting the problem.
Students frequently ask the teacher for direction on word problems before attempting the problem themselves even though they have successfully learned the necessary skills to solve the problem.
Computational Problems
Students are able to solve computational algebra problems if given the steps to follow each type of problem that they may encounter.
