My Life Planning: Janet Suarez
People are starting to have fewer kids because:
kids are getting expensive
-moms are becoming involved in work force
-"state of economy and the jobs situation"
I grew up with only one other sibling. He is older and has already moved out so I have basically grown up as an only-child. I am not good with sharing. Also, I am scared of becoming a mother and its effect on my body. However, I feel that there is a special bond between a child and their biological mother.
Benefits of having a smaller family include..
-women get less of a childbearing burden
-parents get to socialize more. More time for relaxation and invested into career
-less children=more money, better quality of life
-more space in house
-better quality of parenting
-better quality of childhood
Disadvantages of having a smaller family include...
-the child runs a greater risk of becoming selfish
-child misses the opportunity to learn responsibility
-oftentimes, smaller families make parents super strict and overprotective
-child can become lonely
child does not become as well-rounded
My solution would be to raise a family of two children, just enough for them to not be lonely and for me not to become overwhelmed. One of them might be adopted considering that it would impact the life of someone in the world positively , namely, the child.
My goal is to raise a small family
Facts about friends:
-Americans are having less friends, especially with technology becoming more advanced
-friends make you live longer
-friends make you healthier, overall
-they can positively influence us
-they can potentially even make us more intellectual
I feel that friends are an important part of life because they allow us to confide in them and help us cope with struggles.
The benefits of having fewer friends:
-Opportunity to prioritize other parts of life
-More happy when you get to confide with a smaller circle of friends
Benefits of having more friends:
-help cope with trauma and struggles
-more likely to provide positive encouragement
-learn about a variety of interests
The disadvantages of having fewer friends:
-less amount of people to impact positively
-less amount of interests explored
-less amount of people to help cope with trauma
-less amount of people to provide positive encouragement
The disadvantages of having more friends:
-less time to prioritize things other than social life
-less amount of people to be able to connect to intellectually
-more likely to become involved in drama
-need to tend to more people's needs
I will try to broaden my friend circle more as there seems to be more benefits to having more friends. However, I will keep my best friends under four because somethings are easier to talk about with less people.
My goal is to determine what amount of friends is ideal

-44.2 million Americans struggling to pay off student loans
-Average monthly student loan payment is $351
-Median monthly loan payment is $203
I do not want to be stressed over paying off student loans when there are other pressing issues to worry about. I do not want to work more than I have to.
Pros of Scholarships:
-acknowledgment for student achievement
-allows scholars to see what areas they are dong well in to further pursue
-get you into more prestigious universities
-make resume unique
Negative things about scholarships:
-In order to receive certain scholarships, you are held to a standard. You must complete something, such as maintaining a certain gpa, in order to receive a scholarship
I will work to be applicable for scholarships in order to not have student-debt to pay off.
My goal is to learn how to budget my finances well. Part of my finances goes into paying off debt. I want to make my debt as minimal as possible.
