Cognitive restructuring
Once client revealed more about their thought patterns to therapist, both work together on identifying & changing negative thinking patterns => therapy during therapy
- Client may feel distressed about something they have overheard. E.g: person x saying something about client
- Client tought to challenge dysfunctional automatic thoughts; e.g.: by asking themselves where there is evidence for that.
- By challenging these dysfunctional thoughts and replacing them with more constructive ones, clients are able to behave in new ways
