Jacqueline Gonzalez: Reflecting on My Growth through the personal project
Challenges:
A challenge I faced was Procrastination, but I overcame it by always reminding myself about the due date of the Personal Project.
A challenge I faced was getting my idea together for the PP, but I overcame it by thinking about my interests and picking something that I'm really interested in.
A challenge I faced was getting my work for the Personal Project done, but I overcame it by focusing on my product and staying after school when I needed to.
Mindset:
At first my attitude was very positive for my result, but in the middle of it, it was very negative and now it's back to positive.
At first, I thought this PP would be easy and fun, but now it's hard and challenging because of all the hard work needed to complete it.
In the beginning, the PP was very hard, because of my idea and I thought I would fail, but now I changed my idea and it got easier.
Support:
I got support from my supervisor, Mrs. Crawford and she helped me a lot with new ideas.
I got support from friends and family and they helped me by critiquing my work and ideas for my PP.
I got a lot of support from organizations like, PETA. And PETA also helped me by letting me interview them.
Learning Styles:
I was a
Audio
learner by watching/hearing multiple videos about animal abuse in labs and about animal cruelty, in general.
I was a
Solitary
learner by working on most of the Personal Project by myself, like researching on my topic
I was a
Visual
learner by working on the internet a lot by researching and sending emails to my Supervisor.
IB Traits:
I showed the IB trait of
Risk-Taking
by learning how to take risks in my Personal Project, like with changing my idea and my final Product.
I showed the IB trait of
Communicators
by talking with people, in general, about Animal Cruelty and my idea of a brochure and a video.
I showed the IB trait of
Balanced
by learning how to be organized with my after school activities and school, and my Personal Project unit projects.
ATL Skills:
I showed the ATL skill of
Social
by learning how to socialize with others by challenging myself to talk with others, like friends & family, about Animal Cruelty.
I showed the ATL skill of
Research
by learning how to research and practicing it, constantly, while I was doing my research on Animal Cruelty and Testing.
I showed the ATL skill of
Communication
by learning and practicing with my supervisor in our meetings and with different organizations in my interviews.
